Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as aSecond Lieutenanttojoin our teamlocated in Carlsbad, NM.

The successful candidate will serve as a Second Lieutenant in support of the Protective Force Section at the Department of Energy Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. Provide physical security for a nuclear facility to include protection of nuclear/ radiological materials, employees and visitors, government property, and sensitive information. Respond to security and non-security related incidents, and interface and coordinate with other first-responders.

Functions include but are not limited to: conduct daily crew briefings, submit incident reports, ensure WebEOC is accurate and completed daily, maintain crew shift activity reports, coordinate and conduct LSPTs and drills to ensure crew readiness and fill in for the shift Lieutenant when required. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to pass the Basic Readiness Standards (BRS). The BRS consists of completing the half-mile in 4 minutes 40 seconds or less and the 40-yard dash from the prone position in 8.5 seconds or less.

After you are hired, you must be able to pass a Federal background investigation and obtain a DOE “Q” Security Clearance within two (2) years of the date of hire, and maintain that clearance to continue employment.

You must maintain the ability to pass all medical andphysical fitnessstandards as well as other required job-specific qualification programs to continue employment.

Continued employment requires successful completion of the TRF-100 (Tactical Response Force) within two (2) years of the date of hire.

Associate’s degree with two (2) years of working experience*, or

High School Diploma or Equivalency with four (4) years of working experience
* is required.

* Working experience must include two (2) years in any combination of Corrections, Law Enforcement, Security or Military experience.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements:

WIPP Security Police Officer experience.
