JOB TITLE: After School Safety Monitor (Part-time)
REPORTS TO: After School Program Director
FLSA STATUS: Part-Time / Non-Exempt (18 Hour Work Week)
Family Service Society of Yonkers (FSSY) is a community-based nonprofit organization that has served residents of Westchester and surrounding areas for over 140 years. We provide comprehensive services and programs for individuals and families of diverse backgrounds and ages.
The Safety Monitor will assist in the overall operation of the After School Program. This includes communication with students, parents and staff, patrolling hallways and classrooms, and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Patrols and monitors all areas used by the after school program to ensure safety
Helps enforce program policies/procedures
Reports and documents violations of student and staff handbook policies
Assists with fire and shelter in place drills
Adheres and ensures compliance of school aged child care (SACC) regulations
Assists in the promotion of a safe and orderly afterschool environment
Provides assistance to program staff and students in relation to the overall safety of the program
Greet visitors and ensures they are properly registered
Supports early and regular dismissal
Assists staff with student/parent behavior issues and other emergencies
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High School Diploma
Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately to students, staff, parents and visitors
Maturity and personal stability
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including a regard for adolescents
An understanding of adolescents’ basic developmental need for respect, order and structure
Must be available to work Monday-Friday during after school hours to 6:30PM
Preferred are the following:
College Coursework
5 years working with elementary and/or middle school children in a school or afterschool program setting
Job Goals:
· To assist in the smooth and efficient operation of FSSY’s Afterschool Program
· To assist in the promotion of a safe and orderly Afterschool environment
· To provide assistance to staff and students in relation to the overall safety of the program
Compensation: $22.00/Hour
