JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Event Safety and Security is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all aspects of event-day safety and security operations for the stadium and associated properties. This role ensures the safety of guests, staff, and assets during major events including NFL games, concerts, non-NFL competitions, motorsports, and private events. The Director collaborates with internal departments, local law enforcement, emergency services, and private security partners to ensure a safe and secure environment.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Lead and oversee the development and implementation of safety and security initiatives related to events at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, The University of Kansas Healthcare System Training Facility, and official off-site events of the Kansas City Chiefs Football Club.
Conduct event-specific threat and hazard assessments to inform the development and execution of comprehensive safety and security plans, ensuring alignment with NFL Best Practices, DHS SAFETY Act, and other industry guidelines.
Maintain and execute emergency operations, crisis management, and life safety plans, including the development of event specific Incident Action Plans (IAP), training programs, and after-action reviews to drive continuous improvement.
Own the DHS SAFETY Act program and document the Club’s processes, procedures, and actions to maintain records for compliance and continuous improvement.
Oversee the staffing, deployment, and performance of contract security personnel, law enforcement, emergency services, and medical teams during events.
Lead the implementation of access control procedures, credentialing, crowd management, security screening, reporting, and prohibited items enforcement for events.
Facilitates after-action reviews and generate comprehensive post-event security reports with lessons learned and corrective actions.
Serve as a liaison with local, state, and federal agencies and partners for planning and coordination, and represent the Club within the Unified Command System during major events.
Collaborate with security leadership on business planning and budgetary management.
Coordinate with Stadium Operations, Fan Experience, Event Services, Event Operations, and Ticketing in support of a seamless guest experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in event operations, venue operations, security, law enforcement, or emergency management.
At least 3 years of management-level experience leading operations in a stadium, sports venue, entertainment, or public venue.
Experience in developing and implementing life safety, emergency operations, and incident response plans.
Experience in managing event-day staff and contract personnel.
Experience in developing and implementing training programs.
Willing and able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in support of event operations.
Completion of NIMS ICS 100, 200, and 700 required (or ability to obtain within six months).
Familiarity with emergency planning and incident management systems (e.g., ISS 24/7, access control systems, CCTV, mass notification or similar).
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and standards including NIMS/ICS, OSHA, ADA, NFPA, and Best Practices.
Strong leadership abilities, especially in high-visibility environments with excellent organizational skills.
Previous experience with DHS SAFETY Act documentation, submission, or compliance is desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to work extended hours.
Must be able to walk long distances and stand for extended periods.
Must be able to lift/carry objects weighing 20+ lbs.
Must be able to respond to emergencies and incidents on-site in a timely manner.
