Pueblo Regional Center
Pueblo Regional Center (PRC) is one of three state-operated Regional Centers providing quality, specialized services and support to individuals with developmental disabilities by promoting growth, participation, contributions, and capabilities. PRC manages 9 group homes throughout the Pueblo West community, licensed to serve 68 individuals. PRC provides 24/7 care and treatment in a home-like setting, while offering habilitative services and support in the areas of residential, day programming, therapies, and health and nutrition.
Description of Job
Summary of Position:
The Clinical Security Officer will provide crisis intervention, to ensure the physical safety and security of the persons served at PRC, its staff members, its property, and others. The position also provides training to the staff in order to teach them to provide a safe and secure environment as well.
Duties of the position:
Safety Checks/House Monitoring
Work involves monitoring for safety and security for Waiver homes in the community of Pueblo West.
Completes daily documentation of safety checks for all assigned areas this would also include emailing the required team to report any safety concerns or potential issues that may arise.
Work also includes working collaboratively with Quality Assurance in reporting incidents that are observed, and being able to provide insight as to how the situation evolved.
CSO I will also drive to numerous sites daily as described in the monitoring of the properties, staff and individuals.
Crisis Intervention
Work duties include responding promptly to individuals in crisis. Assists in physical redirection; performing Safety Care maneuvers for individuals that need to be physically restrained, utilizing the least restrictive measures possible
Assisting in searching for individuals who have gone AWOL and returning them safely to the facility or transporting to/from hospital, correctional facility, etc.; searching the facility for dangerous objects, contraband, weapons, etc. and removing / storing safely when needed.
Utilizing practices in order to redirect an aggressive individual and to maintain a safe and orderly environment; ensuring the environment is safe so that aggressive individuals and agency staff are free from harm.
Occasional interfacing with law enforcement regarding individuals when needed
Training
Work duties include training agency personnel in Safety Care, as a certified Safety Care trainer.
Providing support and feedback on an individual and group level in regards to observations that require immediate attention and or assisting the staff development team in scheduling on-site training.
Will provide Safety Care based training on an as needed and ongoing basis to staff who have been identified by their supervisors as needing additional training

Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Conditions of Employment
CDHS employees (all Direct contact with vulnerable persons): CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults – Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers)
Current/Valid and unrestricted US Driver’s License
Position must travel between work sites and transport individuals as needed. Position is required to use a State vehicle to transport residents. When not transporting individuals, this person may drive a State vehicle or choose to drive their own
Shift Work – Explain: PRC is a 24/7 facility, therefore a person in this position must be available to work any shift, and/or any area meet agency needs. Schedule may change frequently to meet the needs of the agency, department and/or individuals
Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
May be required to provide local transport for patient care
May be required to travel to assigned trainings and/or work sites.
May require shift work
Successfully pass all modules of the PRC New Employee Orientation core curriculum including English reading comprehension, relevant competency assessments, and written/practical exams in Safety Care
Possess the physical ability to successfully complete Safety Care and CPR
Lift arms above the head and kick as high as own waist
Stabilize another person to accomplish a controlled takedown
Withstand impact on own body using a padded blocker
Rotate body 90 degrees with feet planted for using a safety care physical intervention
Kneel on one or both knees and stand up again with multiple repetitions
Must be able to see and hear in order to observe, address and respond to potential breaches in safety
Seize, hold, control, or subdue violent or assaultive persons and defend oneself or others to prevent injury
Demonstrate body agility, strength of all four limbs, and the ability to walk and climb stairs consistently
Work in situations involving assaultive behavior, physical control of another person, and/or restraint situations
Ability to read and comprehend the English language effectively and fluently communicates in English, both verbally and in writing
Work in an environment with fluctuating noise and temperature (hot and cold) which may include working outdoors in inclement weather and/or concrete floor/wall work settings
Willing and able to travel
