The Security Guard 1 patrols hospital property, screens visitors, and performs activities related to ensuring the safety and security of hospital property and personnel. Reports to the appropriate supervisor.
Makes periodic tours of buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are properly secured. Inspects the premises to guard against fire, theft, illegal entry, safety violations, and other irregularities.
Investigates disturbances and, in emergencies, takes charge of policing to maintain order, safety, and protect property.
Follows applicable local, state, and federal security regulations and restrictions.
Calls fire department in case of fire or emergencies and notifies police of theft, break-ins, or other incidents requiring law enforcement.
Coordinates parking facilities and regulations.
Assists with valet parking for patients and families as needed.
Verifies the identity of authorized persons and ensures that company articles are not removed without approval.
Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, or graduation from a recognized security or law enforcement program.
Experience in law enforcement and security is preferred.
Skills required include independent judgment, ability to work under stress and in various weather conditions, record-keeping, customer relations, diplomacy, initiative, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Must hold a current Mississippi driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
