Why does the job exist?
Incumbent will have an obligation to manage its situations in such way that it minimizes any possibilities of injury to clients, staff and other persons visiting the premises as well as provide security, loss control, and protection to the New Mexico Behavior Health Institute at Las Vegas (NMBHI), Community Based Services (CBS), and San Miguel/Mora Mental Health Services.
How does it get done?
Incumbent will conduct searches of new admissions, clients, and visitors to prevent contraband from entering NMBHI. Check all buildings and ensure they are properly secured (all windows closed, doors locked, and lights off during non-working hours) for NMBHI. As well as assist staff members with combative clients using CPI techniques and perform other related duties as assigned.

Eighth Grade Education.

1. SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS–This position ls designated as safely sensitive. Employment Is subject to pre-employment and random testing. In accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment ls subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results.
2. CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK-Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Working Conditions
This position will perform work in both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to potential hazards that may include but are not limited to, dealing with trespassers, vandals, and/or unruly clients. This position may require extended periods of walking and standing. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus.
