The Inn
The Inn supports the mission of Shaker Village by creating a warm, welcoming environment for overnight guests to discover the unique opportunities our Village provides.
Position Summary
Reporting to, and partnering with the Guest Services Manager, the Security staff supports the mission of Shaker Village by ensuring the safety and security of all overnight guests and employees. Security provides a welcoming experience for both guests and staff.
Responsibilities
Patrol premises to ensure they are secure; may need to navigate ladders, ramps and stairs, attic spaces, as well as run on occasion.
Maintain a log of anyone entering and exiting Shaker Village during their assigned shift.
Respond and report to any safety concerns during their shift.
Use both hands to reach and grasp objects or items, or to use the phone to communicate with Guest Services or to file reports.
Work in weather environments that may sometimes be extremely hot or extremely cold, rainy, snowy or icy.
Keep mental alertness and attention to detail high, no matter the circumstances.
Maintain a neat and professional appearance, and provide excellent customer service as needed.
Maintain a neat and professional Guard House.
Follow established safety and security protocols while using initiative and good judgment.
Deliver housekeeping items to overnight guests after hours.
Respond to maintenance needs to overnight guests after hours.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 18 years old.
Excellent interpersonal skills along with excellent oral and written communication.
Possession of a valid Kentucky driver’s license in good standing.
Ability to remain flexible and adapt well.
Remain calm in stressful situations.
At least 3 years of security experience, preferably in a hotel/resort/industrial setting.
Mental and Physical Requirements
Maintain concentration with time pressures and interruptions.
Sit, stand or walk for considerable length of time.
Perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, climbing, crawling and walking.
Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Ability to operate motor vehicles, lift/move equipment, materials, supplies and tools; wear protective clothing as required by work environment or government regulations.
Working Environment and Conditions
This position will require working outdoors in all weather conditions.
This position will require working evenings, third shift, and weekends.
