Responsible for detection, correction, reporting, managing and preventing safety hazards and security violations which may exist or emerge on the hospital campus or affiliated St. Joseph/Candler Properties. Will perform duties that will call for initiating preventive measures for the following as first responder Lieutenant should initiate response in situations of safety, security, fire safety, emergency preparedness, hazardous material and waste. Assist Security Supervisor with any shift vacancies ensure all training is completed by Safety Security Officers.

Shift Lieutenant will assist Safety Security Officer on shift with maintaining a safe and secure environment in all areas of SJCHS including key areas but not limited to Emergency Room, ICU/CCU, Mental Health Holds in the Emergency Room, Security calls in all locations in the hospital. Will assist securityLeadershipwith follow up reports and ensure all shift officers comply with Security Department Operation Guidelines.

Education

High School Diploma – Required

Required to take and pass the International Association of Healthcare Safety & Security exam within the first 90 days of employment.

Experience

1-2 Years Safety, Security or Law Enforcement Equivalent – Required

1-2 Years Healthcare Security – Preferred

License & Certification

IAHSS Certification – Required

Core Job Functions

Assists and directs shift in Special Activities requiring safety and security assistance.

Conducts surveys related to safety and security.

Communicates duties to Safety Security Staff at both campuses.

Providesleadershipin Safety and Security situations and activities.

A shift plan is devised to address incidents that are potential safety security issues.

Coordinates with other shifts for joint efforts toward resolution of Safety Security issues.

Assures staff are protected with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in safety security and health situations.

Assures staff complete Code BERT training, CBLs and any training designated by the Department Coordinator or Manager.

Coordinates and assures staff participate in all drills and ensure proper scheduling of staff.

Assure documentation is completed for drills, inspections and shift activities.
