Summary: As a Bunkhouse/Seafood Plant Security Guard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the bunkhouse facilities and the seafood processing plant. Your primary role will be to monitor the premises, prevent unauthorized access, respond to incidents, and maintain a safe working environment for employees and visitors.
Note: Effective 1 December 2024, Security residing in Trident housing will be subject to a co-pay of $15 per day for room and board, for each day that at least 8 hours of work is offered.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular patrols of the bunkhouse and seafood plant areas to deter potential security breaches and maintain a visible security presence.
Monitor security cameras, alarms, and access control systems to detect and respond to any suspicious activities or safety hazards promptly.
Enforce company security policies and procedures to prevent theft, vandalism, or other security-related incidents.
Check identification and credentials of individuals entering the premises and restrict access to authorized personnel only.
Collaborate with other security personnel and management to coordinate responses to emergencies and incidents.
Document all security-related incidents, accidents, and observations in detailed reports.
Provide assistance and support to emergency responders during critical situations.
Respond to employee and visitor inquiries in a professional and helpful manner.
Conduct inspections to ensure that safety regulations are adhered to and promptly report any safety hazards.
Continuously monitor and improve security measures to enhance the overall safety and protection of the bunkhouse and seafood plant.
Additional Responsibilities:
Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
May provide environmental support: basic monitoring, water sampling, meter readings, during off-season.
May provide staff transportation and supply support.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks effectively.
Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, and perform patrol duties for extended periods.
Basic knowledge of security equipment such as cameras, alarms, and access control systems.
Familiarity with safety regulations and emergency response procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possession of any relevant security licenses or certifications would be advantageous.
Previous experience in security-related roles is preferred, but not mandatory.
Special Training/Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to supervisor and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Work Environment:
Security guards can work in a range of environments, each with its unique challenges and conditions. Some common work environments include:
Indoors: this posiiton would provide security support on all Trident facilities, including Seafood processing plants, bunkhouses, or as designated.
May also work in outdoor settings, like parking lots, docks, construction sites, or open areas.
Night shifts, which may involve working in low-light conditions. Some sites may require a staggered shift during the off-season.
Hazardous environments, such as industrial sites or high-security facilities.
Exposure to noise, such as alarms, machinery, or loud public events.
Interaction with a diverse range of people, including employees, visitors, customers, and potential intruders.
Potential exposure to high-stress situations, especially during emergencies or critical incidents.
Physical Demands:
Being a security guard can involve various physical demands, which may vary depending on the specific job requirements and environment. Some common physical demands include:
Standing and walking for extended periods during patrols and monitoring activities.
Climbing stairs and ladders to access different areas of the premises.
Responding quickly to incidents or emergencies, which may require running or swift movements.
Vigilantly observing surroundings and maintaining focus for extended periods.
Handling and using security equipment, such as radios (if applicable) may require physical strength and dexterity.
Occasionally assists other management with restraining and or apprehending individuals which may involve physical force.
