Retail Security Officer – Job Description
We are seeking a full-time Retail Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of our store, assets, and personnel. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining a highly visible presence to deter crime, observing for safety hazards, and responding to incidents as needed. You will also be responsible for monitoring surveillance systems, conducting regular patrols, investigating disturbances, and apprehending individuals involved in theft or other criminal activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Protect company property, staff, and customers by ensuring a safe environment.
Monitor for signs of crime or disorder, investigate disturbances, and act in defense of staff or property as needed.
Conduct regular patrols of the premises, including the building perimeter and exterior/parking lot.
Operate alarm systems, video surveillance, and other emergency equipment.
Respond to and document security incidents accurately.
Apprehend individuals for theft, evict violators, and assist with merchandise recovery while adhering to company safety policies.
Communicate with team members, assist guests, and support a safe shopping experience.
Ensure compliance with company safety standards and maintain store cleanliness.
Assist with crisis management, de-escalation, and crowd control when necessary.
Follow all safety protocols and best practices to ensure a secure environment.
Perform other duties as needed based on business requirements.
Requirements:
Valid driver’s license and clean criminal background (no felony convictions).
At least 18 years old and able to meet local licensure and legal requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of retail security experience required.
Ability to operate security systems, surveillance cameras, and communication equipment.
Strong attention to detail and excellent surveillance skills.
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and remain mobile throughout the shift.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Strong de-escalation and crisis management skills.
Comfortable with physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 40 pounds and climbing ladders.
Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Compensation & Benefits:
Pay starting at $17.00 per hour.

Schedule:
Full-time position with shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours.
Available to work weekdays and weekends as needed.
