A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A SECURITY OFFICER As a Security Officer, you are responsible for patrolling the zoo grounds and surrounding areas to prevent theft, violence, and other infractions; and ensure operating equipment such as pumps, blowers, heaters, air conditioners, and fans are performing as required. In addition, you will render first aid and maintain public calm during emergencies, including assisting EMTs if needed and providing minor first aid to team members. You must be fully committed to San Antonio Zoo’s mission to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wildlife we steward and the animals we protect. You take pride in knowing your hard work is making a difference in wildlife conservation. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SECURITY OFFICER
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
One year of related security, loss prevention, law enforcement, military, or public safety is required.
Effective Written And Verbal Communication Skills Preferred.Experience working in a high-volume customer-focused venue or attraction is preferred.
Level II Non-Commission Texas Department of Private Security Certification completion by assigned deadline.
CPR/AED (adult, child, infant) and Basic First Aid certificate completion by assigned deadline
Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
Must be 18 years of age or older with a clean driving record for vehicle operation.
This position requires a valid Class ‘C’ Texas Driver’s License or a valid driver’s license from another state with the ability to obtain a Class “C” Texas Driver’s License within 45 days of becoming employed.
Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment drug screening background check.
Must work in varying climates and weather conditions (rain, snow, hot, or cold).
