As the Security Associate I, you will be responsible for the safety and security of staff, volunteers, facilities and program residents.
Starting Pay: $21.68
Schedule: different locations and shifts are available
How you will serve
Initiate, develop and maintain trust with Mission staff, volunteers, and guests ensuring safe, compassionate, and professional interactions.
Enforce policies with Mission residents, homeless neighbors outside facilities to include proactive outreach and engagement with homeless neighbors that are loitering on or around Mission properties.
Provide assistance and referral to homeless neighbors who are experiencing crises caused by mental illness and/or excessive drug/alcohol consumption.
Documenting and communicating repeated violations of the Missions policies to Security Manager.
Assist in de-escalation of guests in crises (medical, mental health, interpersonal).
De-escalate arguments and altercations happening outside of the Mission.
Calling or coordinating the calling of 9-1-1 to address emergencies.
Discourage and report predatory and/or illicit behavior.
Learn, understand and commit to the grace based therapeutic model and incorporating it into all interactions.
Attend and participate in all Mission, Division and Department meetings and training, as required.
Proactively outreach and engage with guests and non-guests that are loitering and camping round Mission property.
Enforce the Guest Services policies with Mission guests.
Coordinate with the Welcome Center/Guest Services, including participating in the weekly team meetings and working with other departments at the Mission as necessary.
Collaborate with other Mission staff and guests to improve safety and cleanliness around and near Mission property.
Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

How you qualify
Acknowledge and sign the Mission’s Statement of Faith (see below).
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Must have at least 1+ year(s) of experience in human services (paid or volunteer), preferably working with adults challenged by homelessness, mental illness and/or chemical dependency required.
1+ years of experience working in Public Safety, Security, Law Enforcement or Military is required.
Trained in Mental Health First Aid and Harm Reduction preferred.
Possess a valid Washington State Drivers License and be able to meet the standards of the Mission driver criteria preferred, including but not limited to:
Must have an unrestricted License for at least one year.
No current suspensions or revocations.
Clean driving record.
At least 21 years of age.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk for long periods of time in a varying temperature environment. Occasionally will sit, balance, twist, stoop, kneel and reach with hands/arms. Frequently uses good judgement in relationship building and to de-escalate situations. Occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds and walks, use stairways to climb to multiple floors within the company. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
