Job Summary:
The Seasonal Security Representative supports the Guest Experience and Security teams during the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s peak season, assisting with maintaining public safety and keeping a secure environment for staff, volunteers, guests and animals.
Core Responsibilities
Provide an outstanding customer experience to internal and external visitors and guests
Conduct personal bag inspections for guests entering the Aquarium as scheduled or directed
Assist with lost and found personal property
Greet guests as they arrive and provide wristbands for children or dependents
Assist other Aquarium departments with operational and special needs as directed by Security Supervisors
Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the security function and reporting duties
Conduct opening and closing of Aquarium employee and public areas for normal business hours and special events
Adhere to the Monterey Bay Aquarium uniform and grooming standards
Respond to calls for lost or found children and provide safety and security for those individuals until reunited with adult chaperons or parents
Absolutely Required Skills / Knowledge / Ability / Experience or Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check
Criminal convictions relevant to the position may be considered in determining suitability for employment.
Ability to pass post-offer, pre-employment drug screen
Must be able to work week-ends and holidays as assigned or scheduled
Ability to work within, and maintain Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Core Values
Ability to be alert and vigilant, ready to be a good witness at all times, whether on the exhibit floor, or behind the scenes
Ability to respond to and mitigate conflict situations in a safe and professional manner
Maintain accountability of personal and shared department equipment
Must possess, or be able to obtain within the first 3 months of employment, a valid California drivers license in order to operate Monterey Bay Aquarium vehicles.
Ancillary Responsibilities
Ability to be alert and vigilant, ready to be a good witness at all times, whether on the exhibit floor, behind the scenes, conducting building rounds, or sitting at the dispatch station in the Security Operations Center
Ability to respond to and mitigate conflict situations in a safe and professional manner
Maintain accountability of personal and shared department equipment
Hourly starting rate: $23.00
