Job Summary
Monitor and patrol hotel property to ensure the safety of guests and employees, protecting all hotel assets. Maintain a safe and secure environment by performing protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner, responding effectively to emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances, and threats to life and property.
Essential Job Functions
Conduct foot patrols of interior and perimeter areas to observe and identify potential security risks or undesirable conditions.
Communicate verbally using pagers and two-way radios; perform CPR, bend, stoop, and kneel as needed.
Maintain order, assist guests with issues like door lock problems, respond to emergencies such as fires or safety hazards, and handle undesired conduct or violations of hotel policies, ensuring the safety of guests, staff, and property.
Answer security and safety hotline calls promptly and respond based on priority.
Use clear, effective English to listen, provide information, and document incidents legibly.
Familiarize with and monitor the building’s life safety systems, including alarms, fire extinguishers, and sprinklers.
Manage lost and found items, researching and responding to guest inquiries.
Escort guests and employees as needed, including to parking lots and with carrying valuables.
Adhere to all company policies, safety, and security procedures.
Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, or property damage to management.
Maintain a neat, professional appearance as outlined in the employee handbook.
Assist other front desk personnel and perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Equivalent education and experience may be considered. High school diploma preferred. Prior law enforcement or military experience is a plus. Must know the building layout, function rooms, and local area. Excellent communication skills, patience, tact, and diplomacy are required. Ability to operate basic office equipment and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a cheerful demeanor.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
Have the hearing and visual ability to detect emergencies.
Climb stairs/ladders quickly.
Perform bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances.
Lifting up to 25 pounds.
