This position is located in the UNDSS country office in Ankara, Türkiye, locally administered by the UNDP and is financed by the Local Cost-Shared Security Budget. The SOC Associate is responsible for all aspects of the daily operations of the SOC, delivering reliable and consistent services to UNSMS personnel and security managers and the operational status of the Security Communications System.

This position will operate on a shift system when required. This position is for Turkish Nationals only.

Scope of Work

Responsibilities:

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the D/SA in Turkiye, the Security Operations Centre Associate will execute the duties and responsibilities outlined below:

Operational

Coordinates the SOC assistants and shift system.

Ensures SOC assistants are trained and capable of delivering services at the expected level.

Monitors individual team members’ performance; provides guidance and instruction.

Overseeing daily operations

Coordinates the reception, transmission, and relay of security and safety messages.

Oversees the monitoring of field missions.

Ensures all incoming/outgoing information messages are registered and logged appropriately.

Coordinates personnel headcount and communications checks.

Conducts SCS training to UN Personnel in Turkiye.

Monitoring the use of the SCS

Monitors the SCS and ensures it is used according to established SOPs.

Coordinates and guides SOC personnel on appropriate use of the SCS.

Sharing information

Monitors and tracks notifications of security and safety incidents.

Ensures timely support to UNSMS personnel involved in incidents.

Notifies the respective UNSMS organization security focal point when personnel are involved in an incident.

Monitoring the SCS status

Verifies the operational status of the SCS.

Ensures proper use of equipment and reports any misuse.

Responsible for daily routine service checks of all equipment.

Ensures a preventive maintenance plan for the SOC is in place.

Technical

Installs and programs telecommunications equipment.

Ensures smooth operation of established UN SCS network.

Provides support services for various technology products.

Administrative

Maintains confidentiality and accuracy in accordance with UN information management policies.

Supervises the preparation and submission of daily reports.

Manages the incident tracking database.

Conducts GIS mapping of UNSMS premises within Turkiye.

Liaises with relevant Turkishcommunicationauthorities.

Institutional Arrangement

The Security Operations Centre (SOC) Associate will work under the direct supervision of the D/SA in Ankara.
