Job Description:
Legislative Administration is seeking an experienced Security Operations Technician to join their expanding Capitol Safety and Security team.
This is a limited duration position beginning in mid-May to early June 2024. The duration of position is expected to last through June 30, 2025.
The Capitol Safety and Security team is charged with protecting and supporting the Capitol – elected and appointed members, employees, tenants, visitors, and facilities – and ensure a safe, secure environment for state officials to fulfill their constitutional and legislative responsibilities. The Security Office is primarily responsible for providing daily security and meeting the building policy needs of the Capitol through risk management, physical screening, electronic access controls, video monitoring, and fixed posts.
The Security Operations Technician Provides security support and acts as a liaison between staff, building occupants, the public and vendors. This position will promote safety and ensure security of the Oregon State Capitol by offering a comprehensive range of security and support services. These duties encompass a variety of tasks, including collaborating with contractors on security protocols. Employees in this position assist with access control, coordinate security policy with contractors, provide building security, process mail and freight for security inspections, assist with emergency services, assist with visitor related activities, Issues building keycards, hard keys, parking passes; programs all access levels for card holders; monitors the access control system; and manages alarm activations.

Duress system software, low voltage wiring and cable feeds
Security Systems & Equipment: Understanding of access control systems (key cards, biometrics), CCTV (closed-circuit television), alarms, and other security technology.
Security Protocols & Procedures: Knowledge of security plans, access authorization, emergency procedures, and response protocols.
State & Federal Laws: Familiarity with relevant laws regarding security operations, privacy, and public safety.
Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with security personnel, law enforcement, and other staff.
Problem-Solving: Being resourceful and able to think critically to resolve security issues.
Discretion: Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and adhering to security protocols.
Skill in:

HOW TO QUALIFY:
Your application must demonstrate:
Associate’s degree in Security Systems, Criminal Justice, or a related field and/or 2 years of college and four (4) to nine (9) years of related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate ability to perform the duties of the position may be considered.

SPECIAL INFORMATION:
Over the next two years, the Capitol Building will be undergoing extensive renovation and construction projects which may limit accessibility to employees. This will require Legislative employees to work both from home and within the building as the construction project dictates. While working from home, personal, stable, and high-speed internet access will be required to perform the functions of this position. There may be occasions that require employees scheduled to be working from home to report to the Capitol building. Every effort will be made to provide reasonable notice. The salary in this job posting reflects the base salary without contributions to the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS). Employees eligible for PERS will have their salary increased by 6.95% and 6% will be automatically be subject to a mandatory employee contribution to PERS.
