Reports to: Facility Engineer Manager
FLSA Code: Non-Exempt/PRN – Variable hours as needed
This position is mainly evenings/nights. Can work various shifts, holidays, and weekends as needed.
Position Summary:
Is responsible for the security and surveillance of all equipment, building and grounds. Assists employees, visitors, physicians and patients as required in a courteous manner.
Makes periodic rounds of the facility and grounds to ensure the security and safety of the employees, patients and visitors.
Position Accountabilities:
Conducts self in a professional manner.
Consistently respects the confidential nature of all information concerning any aspects of the hospital and its patients.
Investigates all security issues and complaints while on duty or assigned.
Documents all activities that take place during work shift on security officer report.
Understands operation of all hospital mechanical equipment.
Orients new members of the security staff to the requirements of the job.
Assists in maintaining compliance with all federal, state and local safety & security codes.
Performs all duties in a cost effective manner striving to avoid wasting hospital resources.
Assists maintenance staff as required with snow removal and other maintenance tasks.
Able to perform assigned tasks to assist with building checks; fire alarms, police alarms, water temps, or as required
Able to operate hospitals moving equipment and vehicles in accordance with the safety rules and driving laws set forth.
Participates in performance improvement activities and patient safety, assists in maintaining compliance with TJC.
Must have a good understanding of Highland District Hospital policies and procedures that pertain to the security officer function.
