Overview

The Security Specialist plays a vital role in safeguarding the assets, personnel, and integrity of the organization. The Security Specialist is responsible for developing and enforcing security policies, conducting risk assessments, and implementing procedures that ensure a secure environment. Recognized as a crucial element of the organization’s operational effectiveness, the Security Specialist collaborates with local law enforcement and emergency services while providing training and guidance to staff on safety protocols. Continuous monitoring of security systems and the updating of emergency plans will be part of the daily responsibilities. The importance of this role cannot be overstated as it protects an organization from potential threats, ensuring a safe and secure workplace for all employees.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities.

Develop and implement security protocols and procedures.

Monitor security systems and respond to breaches.

Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency responders.

Conduct investigations of security incidents and prepare reports.

Provide training sessions to staff on security best practices.

Review and improve emergency response plans regularly.

Maintain accurate records of security activities and incidents.

Oversee access control systems and visitor management.

Implement and evaluate physical security measures, including surveillance and alarm systems.

Act as a point of contact for security-related inquiries.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal security regulations.

Serve on the organization’s security committee.

Conduct security audits and assessments as required.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Security Management or related field.

Maximum of 15 years of experience in security or related role.

Need Public Sector Experience.

Certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) preferred.

Strong understanding of physical security systems.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

Knowledge of emergency response procedures and protocols.

Proficiency in security technology and surveillance systems.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Willingness to be on call for emergencies.

Familiarity with local regulations and laws regarding security.

Prior experience in security audits and assessments.

Ability to train others on security practices.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Continuously pursue professional development in security practices.
