Security Specialist Overview

Analyzes, plans, advises, operates, or evaluates the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss.

Primary Responsibilities

Developing, evaluating, maintaining, and/or operating systems, policies, devices, procedures, and methods used for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations, and materials.

Developing and implementing policies and procedures for analyzing and evaluating the character, background, and history of employees, candidates for employment, and other persons having or proposed to be granted access to classified or other sensitive information, materials, or work sites.

Supervisory Responsibilities

There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

Education

And/or Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

Experience shall include a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the security field within the past five years.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

DLA experience is a plus.

Must have experience drafting business correspondence and writtencommunication.

Excellent writing and interpersonal skills are required.

Must have experience in following policies and procedures.

Must be accurate and have goodanalytical skills.

Must have the ability to organize and coordinate workload to meet deadlines.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including, Word, Excel, Access and E-mail business software.

Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.

Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.

Security Clearance

Position requires U.S. Citizenship, a United States Government background check and may require a U.S. Government SECRET Clearance.

If SECRET Clearance Level is required, candidate must also:

Must have a current United States Government SECRET level security clearance or be able to successfully obtain the required clearance.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Must also be able to maintain a US Government SECRET clearance.
