Security Staff Member
The Town School, which serves children from nursery school through eighth grade, is seeking to fill the position of Security Staff Member. This position reports to the school’s Facilities and Security Director and is responsible for the safety and security of the school’s property, guests, students, faculty, and staff.
The ideal candidate should understand the logistics associated with emergency response, conflict management, and collaboration with city agencies. The competitive candidate will have demonstrated the ability to cultivate positive relationships with all members of the Town Community. Finally, the ability to collaborate, work within a team, demonstrate a commitment to equity, and interact effectively with multiple departments is a must.

Specific Responsibilities
● Front Desk/Security Coverage
○ Monitor and assist with the flow of students, families, and visitors entering and leaving the building.
○ Support incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate party
○ Assist with emergency management drills
○ Respond to onsite emergencies and liaise with first responders as needed
○ Assist in the creation and maintenance of ID cards
○ Assist with background checks for new employees as required by the City and State of New York
○ Receive, create, and maintain daily reports
○ Manage incoming and outgoing mail and packages
● Student Arrival / Dismissal
○ Aid with directing bus and car traffic for student arrival and dismissal
● Public Assembly Safety Personnel
○ Pre-event safety inspection ensure clear egress and safety
○ Regular safety inspection during events to ensure clear egress and safety
Qualifications
● Prior Security or site management experience preferred
● Experience in a school, non-profit, or similar organization is a plus
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Intermediate to advanced computer skills
● Ability to work evenings and weekends
● High School Diploma or equivalent
● New York State Security License
● Fitness Certificate F01 Fire Guard for Impairment
● Fitness Certificate F03-04 Indoor/ Outdoor Assembly Safety Personnel
Compensation:$50,000 – $55,000 (position is eligible for over-time) with a generous benefits package
