Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily Security Operations & Compliance
Serve as a point person for day-to-day security workflow coordination during assigned shifts.
Assist with monitoring of cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems.
Walk the dispensary floor or cultivation building to ensure operational safety
Support incident response by completing reports and gathering initial details for review by supervisors.
Help ensure secure handling and documentation of security access cards.
Conduct walkthroughs and routine inspections to identify safety or compliance concerns.
Provide coverage as a Security Officer when needed.
Communicate shift updates, incidents, and operational issues to the Security Supervisor or Manager.
Support & Peer Leadership
Act as a knowledgeable resource for fellow officers regarding procedures and protocols.
Reinforce adherence to company security policies and state regulations.
Lead by example in professionalism, compliance, and customer service.
Help onboard new security officers by walking them through key processes (non-training capacity).
Emergency Response & Issue Escalation
Serve as a liaison during shift emergencies until supervisor-level support arrives.
Assist with crowd control, de-escalation, or other incident responses when needed.
Escalate compliance issues or safety concerns promptly to management.
Customer & Team Member Safety
Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for customers and team members by proactively identifying and addressing potential security risks.
Provide guidance on conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
Enforce company policies regarding identification verification and access control in compliance with state laws.
Effective Communication:
Clearly communicate security issues to leadership at all levels.
Manage professional relationships with leaders, regulators and inspectors to foster positive interactions and facilitate issue resolution.
Provide clear and actionable recommendations to internal teams to support operational adherence.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of experience and education will be considered.
MUST BE ABLE to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends
Minimum of 4+ years of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field
Strong knowledge of New Jersey cannabis regulations and security compliance requirements.
Experience with security technology, including CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Must pass a comprehensive background check and obtain necessary state security credentials.
Proficiency in standard office software and packages to include Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, etc.
High level of attention to detail to ensure accurate compliance documentation and reporting.
Ability to identify compliance issues, analyze potential impacts, and implement effective solutions.
Strong ethical standards and integrity to uphold compliance standards and foster a culture of transparency.
Ability to collaborate with various teams, including regulatory agencies, internal departments, and external partners.
Ability to adapt to changing regulations and industry standards, and to remain updated with current compliance trends and best practices.
Preferred:
Experience in the cannabis industry, retail security, or high-risk security environments.
Military, law enforcement, or corporate security background.
Certifications in security management (e.g., CPP, PSP, or similar).
