Position Summary
The Salvation Army Northern Division Harbor Light Center (HLC) and satellite locations provide shelter, housing, and supportive services to over 300 people each night. The Senior Lead Security Monitor assists with security operations, provides guidance and support to the security team, and promotes a person-centered, dignified environment for participants.
Essential Functions (approximate time spent)
. Promote a safe, dignified environment for participants and staff using a person-centered approach and effective de-escalation. (30%)
. Lead responses to security incidents (e.g., disturbances, medical emergencies, unauthorized access, crises) in a calm, professional manner. (25%)
. Support the management of security operations at HLC and satellite locations including staff training, scheduling, monitoring and reviewing surveillance cameras and building access records, and implementing security policies and procedures. (20%)
. Act as an on-site supervisor in the absence of other management, ensure policies and procedures are followed. (15%)
. Maintain the building access systems including assigning, tracking, and distributing keys and key cards/fobs. (5%)
. Ensure up-to-date, accurate records, incident reports, and statistics are maintained. (5%)

Education and Experience
. Associate degree in a relevant field. Instead of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
. Previous relevant experience required; experience may include employment, volunteering, or lived experience.
. Previous security experience is highly preferred.
. Must possess a valid driver’s license, meet MVR requirements, and pass background checks.

. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills, especially with participants of diverse backgrounds.
. Strong leadership and supervision skills.
. Strong ethical and professional behavior with a focus on client self-determination and confidentiality.
. Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence.
. Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, and databases.
Working Conditions
. Perform all physical aspects of the position including bending, reaching, climbing, walking, lifting, and carrying.
. Must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift to 100 pounds.
. Professional work environment, not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, and work in person and on the phone.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Driving/Travel Requirements
Regular local driving by agency vehicle to support the mission.
