Sergeant / Field Supervisor
The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with a proven record of leading a successful team. It is helpful for the candidate to have experience serving in a law enforcement patrol officer or security supervisor capacity. The candidate will be required to be locally based in or close to our primary service area (Jacksonville FL). Relocating candidates will be considered, but there is no relocation package offered. We strive for a candidate who will minimize drama and politics as there is no place for these in our environment. The candidate will work a Panama schedule, night shift 1800-0600 as follows:
Week 1 – Sun, Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat (5 day week) 1800-0600
Week 2 – Wed/Thu 1800-0600 (2-day week)
The best candidates will:
Be a self starter and able to work independently, making sound business decisions.
Have experience as a trainer or FTO will also be an advantage.
Former military experience a plus.
Ability to be flexible and “think on your feet”.
An “out of the box mindset” can be an advantage.
Will be working in a diverse environment. Acceptance of gender, religious affiliations, sexual preferences, etc., are a must.
The candidate must also have “thick skin” and be tolerant of critique, sarcasm and an ever changing environment, which may be highly stressful at times.
A strong ability to navigate day-to-day, which often has moving targets and changing priorities but still complete functions in a timely manner.
This position is a mix of office and field responsibilities.
An ability to “manage your bosses” is very helpful.
An ability to model, coach and hold accountable as well as provide disciplinary action as needed as an effort to redirect unfavorable behaviors or for termination reasons.
Experience in leading and managing a diverse team of skilled and under-skilled personnel at both the management level and officer team level in a police style para-military environment.
Responsibilities include but subject to modification based on business needs:
Recruiting,
Interviewing,
Scheduling oversight,
Planning
People development
Working with and through the Lieutenant for employee development up to law enforcement standards and often higher,
Field visits to spot check officers and compliance with agency S.O.P, and FDACS standards.
Patrol to assist with both compliance and client relations, field officers development with on-scene mitigation and interaction with law enforcement partners.
Coordinate static post coverage with the Lieutenant to ensure there are no gaps in coverage.
The Sergeant is expected to interface with law enforcement in an appropriate fashion but understands the role of a security officer and security’s function once law enforcement assumes command of the scene.
As this is a leadership role operating in potentially high-activity locations, the following equipment must be provided by the candidate and worn on duty:
Level 3 or higher retention duty holster
Duty belt
Duty-grade firearm (Proteus must approve) with a minimum of 3 magazines
Pepper spray/mace and/or a Taser
Rugged flashlight
Two sets of handcuffs
Appropriate cases/holders for all of the above
Body armor with exterior carrier
Olive Drab tactical pants
Uniform shirts, patches for armor carrier, and other identifying gear will be provided by Proteus.
The Sergeant will be responsible for possessing active FDACS licenses (D & G) along with basic first aid / AED. If the candidate does not have these certifications, Proteus will provide the training for these courses through the Proteus Training Institute DS3300039 (www.proteustraining.org). The candidate must have a valid Florida Drivers License with a clean driving record (candidate must pay $25 for an online Driver History Report and submit to Proteus). The candidate must be willing to consent to a background and drug screen. The candidate will be required to sign a non-compete and non-disclosure agreement due to the nature of access to company sensitive information.

1 week PTO first year, per the employee PTO policy, after 90-days of continuous employment
Annual review for pay increases.
The position is a salaried position paid with the base pay of $42,650 annually with the expected work week of averaging 42-50 hours, salaried. Annual review increase is scheduled for May 2024.
Set schedule but subject to change as the needs of the business dictate.
