Job Summary
This armed position manages an operational shift of Cox Health security officers dedicated to the safety and security of an assigned geographical area within the health system. The Sergeant practices effective problem identification, applies preventative, protective, and defensive tactics, seeks appropriate solutions, and requests assistance as necessary. The sergeant documents observations and actions in department reports. This position supports department leaders in running the department’s day-to-day support functions.
Job Requirements
Education
Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience
Required:
3 years of related security or law enforcement experience.
Required:
Must be 21 years of age.
Required:
Must meet Requirements for Operating Vehicles Owned by Cox Health System Policy, which includes no serious driving violations during the past five years. Serious violations are defined in the Cox Health System Policy.

Able to communicate clearly in a variety of situations.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership, site leadership, and entry-level personnel

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Learn, interpret, and apply the policies, procedures, laws, codes, and regulations about assigned programs and functions

Licensure/Certification/Registration
Required:
Active Driver’s License
Required:
Complete department specific training to carry firearms within 30 days of hire
Required:
Must obtain IAHSS Security Supervisor certification within 90 days of hire
Preferred:
Completion of the Missouri POST Licensure requirements
