Job Summary:
We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and highly skilled Security Officer to join our team. This role involves maintaining safety and security in an environment where interaction with unhoused individuals and those struggling with addiction is a regular part of the job. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong de-escalation skills, empathy, and professionalism in challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and secure premises, ensuring the safety of guests, staff, and property.
Interact respectfully and effectively with unhoused and drug-affected individuals in and around the property.
Respond to incidents and emergencies using non-violent, de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts calmly and safely.
Conduct regular patrols and provide a visible security presence.
Work closely with local law enforcement, emergency services, and social support agencies when necessary.
Maintain detailed incident reports, documenting any security concerns or breaches.
Uphold the company’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all.
Qualifications:
VALID GUARD CARD IS REQUIRED, NO EXCEPTIONS
Must have prior security experience (at least 2 years), preferably with unhoused individuals
Previous experience in security, law enforcement, social services, or related fields is preferred.
Proven ability to de-escalate tense or potentially violent situations calmly and effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of emotional intelligence.
Familiarity with challenges associated with homelessness, addiction, and mental health issues.
Physically fit and capable of standing, walking, or patrolling for extended periods.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Must possess a valid security license (if required by state law).
