Duties
Serves as the district resource for PCSD staff regarding the implementation and understanding of Board Policies and Administrative Guidelines related to Safety and Security and Student Wellness.
Leads the implementation of Safety Meeting, Threat Assessment, School Tip Hotline and Residency Checks.
Acts as a liaison between school administrators and mental health resources to ensure a collaborative effort to support students.
Administers the board-approved budget for assigned areas of responsibility. Approves the purchase of supplies and equipment. Ensures that program resources are equitably apportioned.
Encourages program innovations. Pursues grant and alternative funding opportunities.
Oversees the functionality, appropriateness and implementation of cameras, alarm systems, emergency lights, exit signs, panic bars, points of ingress/egress, arrival/dismissal procedures, vestibules, badges, emergency plans, emergency drills and other related items. Initiates action to correct security concerns.
Creates and maintains positive working relationships and serves as a liaison with emergency response departments, including but not limited to the police and fire departments within our communities.
Directly oversees all requirements related to staff members carrying firearms.
Oversee and evaluate School Resource Officer agreements with our communities, including the appropriate use of School Resource officers within the district.
Supports and participates as necessary in emergency situations and investigations related to students, staff and district interests.
Works with district staff to evaluate and address security issues. Prepares security policy recommendations for administrative review.
Helps building administration develop security procedures that promote safety (e.g., monitoring students/visitors, issuing keys, handling money, classroom and equipment security, etc.).
Leads and oversees members of the Safety and Security Department, including School Security Assistants; trains security staff in procedures to effectively accomplish their duties.
Conducts safety in-service training programs for district staff as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience Required
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
The preferred candidate will have a background in one of the following fields: security, law enforcement, educational administration, counseling/psychology or otherwise have demonstrated the ability to oversee the Safety and Security operations.
Wage or Salary
Starting salary $80,000 and increases with experience.
