Sentara is hiring a Full-time Security Officer at the Fort Norfolk location in Norfolk, VA.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Drivers License
1 year of security experience preferred
HANDLE WITH CARE (HWC) certification and Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) – Certification – International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) required within 90 days of hire
Successful completion of Fit for Duty Assessment
This is a Full-time, Monday-Friday 40 hour per week position.
The working hours are from 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
This position will require travel throughout Hampton Roads during working hours to patrol, secure buildings, and respond to alarms. This position also requires the ability to walk for an extended amount of time.
Responsibilities:
The Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees at Sentara’s Free-standing Clinical locations throughout Hampton Roads.
The Security Officer actively patrols campus and monitors activity in and around buildings and grounds and responds appropriately to routine and emergency situations.
This individual performs camera surveillance, maintains department logs and records, uses computer skills for documentation of daily activities, conducts security investigations, evaluates situations, and takes appropriate steps for professional and timely resolution.
To bolster safety and security for our patients and team members, Sentara has implemented a Fit for Duty assessment to ensure that our officers meet a minimum standard of fitness.
The four-part assessment includes a response walk, a stair climb, a drag to safety, and a lift.
