Job Summary
Established Social Security Disability law firm is seeking a paralegal to perform screening of prospective disability claimants.
Responsibilities and Duties
The paralegal will screen potential Social Security disability claimants.
The paralegal will manage internet and telephone inquiries from prospective clients.
The paralegal will conduct telephone interviews with prospective clients.
The paralegal will manage the process of securing the necessary documents from prospective clients needed to file the applications and appeals.
The paralegal will follow up with prospective clients by telephone, mail, and email.
The paralegal will consult with attorneys regarding the acceptance of potential clients.
The paralegal will file disability applications and appeals.
The paralegal will contact Social Security field offices and Disability Determination Services.
Qualifications and Skills
Ideally, the applicant would have worked at Disability Determination Services or as an intake specialist in a law office specializing in Social Security disability. The applicant must have excellent verbal and communication skills. The applicant should be familiar with the Social Security disability application and appeal process. The individual should understand the relevance of medical impairments, age, education, and work experience, and how these factors impact the process. The paralegal should be knowledgeable regarding the concepts of insured status and eligibility requirements of Supplemental Security Income.
Benefits
Salary will be based upon the education and experience of the applicant.
