Urgent Response Security Supervisor Jobs in Boston, MA at Inner Parish Security Corporation
Maintain a safe and secure environment for the zoo. Manage the daily safety and security operations within the zoo, including access control, security personnel training and scheduling. Implement policies, maintain security assets, ensure zoo complies with safety protocols including coordinating with emergency responders, and conducting training and drills.
Duties & Responsibilities
Hire and train security guards; provide mentorship and motivation
Develop procedures that improve existing security measures, conduct risk assessments, and propose tactics to prevent safety or security breaches
Supervise officers, schedule shifts, submit payroll, conduct annual performance evaluations
Set team goals, and quality standards; make decisions on requests
Conduct routine checks of the zoo, perform investigations, monitor events on grounds and cameras
Plan, organize, train for and lead emergency drills; ensure S&S staff are trained to respond to emergencies; Chair or serve on the Safety Committee
Maintain CPR/AED certification, and serve as a first responder within the zoo
Implement and ensure compliance of safety protocols, including process and equipment inspections and improvement
Complete all necessary reports and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
Physical Demands
Frequently stands, and moves about on foot from one area to another; occasional runs for emergency response
Occasionally raises/lowers, transports, and positions objects (including, but not limited to First Aid bags, packages, etc.) weighing up to 50 pounds from vehicle to ground, from ground to vehicle or storage shelves; grasping with hands and arms, to maintain supplies
Frequently reaches, pushes, pulls and throws objects with hands such as to open and close doors/gates, and deliver parcels
Frequently uses good balance to climb, ascend/descend stairs and ladders, traverse uneven or slippery terrain to make patrol grounds
Frequently stoops, kneels, or crouches to work, such as to inspect barriers
Frequently converses with guests, co-workers and contractors to exchange accurate information for safety and security purposes. Must be able to inspect, detect and identify safety issues using hearing (radio)
Frequently inspects, detects and identifies product safety issues using sight (including color identification, and smell (to detect smoke, gas, etc.)
Work Conditions
Frequently in an indoor office setting using computer, printer, copier, and other office equipment
May be assigned to work at either Franklin Park or Stone Zoo sites
Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays
Available 24/7 for contact, and response if necessary
Minimum Job Requirements
Three years of Safety & Security experience, with at least one year in a supervisor position
Valid driver’s license and driving record in good standing
Strong computer skills
Clean criminal record
Congenial while functioning in a team environment, able to apply sound management principles, tact, reasoning, prioritization and time management, and have good character judgement
Fluency in written and verbal English is essential for this position. This includes the ability to:
Communicate effectively in writing through clear, concise, and grammatically correct emails, reports, and other professional documents.
Communicate effectively verbally in individual and group settings, including meetings and discussions with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders. This includes clear articulation, active listening skills, and the ability to understand and respond appropriately to spoken English.
Comprehend and interpret written and spoken English at a level necessary to understand job-related materials, instructions, and communications.
Communication and listening skills, able to diffuse situations before they escalate; observant, with good attention to detail
Able to work and communicate with a diverse population; fight unconscious bias, stereotypes and microaggressions
Able to lead and manage crisis situations
Able to train the Safety & Security Officers in safety protocol as well as other relevant security procedures as required
Always remain alert while on duty.
Preferred Job Requirements
A certificate in security training from an established institution.
Knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook
CPR/AED training.
Multi-lingual is a plus.
