POSITION SUMMARY
The Security Facilities Technician at the United Community Center is a versatile professional responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the premises while providing hands-on support in various trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, and general construction. This role requires a multi-skilled individual who can efficiently balance security responsibilities with facility maintenance, repairs, and technical work.
The Security Facilities Technician will patrol and monitor the property to prevent unauthorized access, theft, or safety risks while also performing essential maintenance tasks that support the functionality and safety of the center. The ideal candidate will have experience in security procedures and a strong background in construction, electrical work, HVAC, plumbing, and other facility-related trades.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EHS, Facilities, and Technical Support:
Perform general facility repairs, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as unclogging drains, fixing leaks, replacing plumbing fixtures, and inspecting water supply lines.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including outlets, wiring, and lighting fixtures.
Assist with HVAC maintenance, including troubleshooting heating and cooling issues, filter replacement, and system checks.
Conduct drywall repairs, including patching, smoothing, and painting for a professional finish.
Install, assemble, and repair furniture, fixtures, and other facility-related equipment.
Ensure safe and efficient operation of mechanical and electrical systems within the facility.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, removing debris and hazardous materials as needed.
Provide support for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Document maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs, reporting any safety concerns.
Security Responsibilities:
Patrol and monitor our premises if necessary to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
Use alarms, cameras, motion sensors, and radios to identify and respond to crimes, fires, medical emergencies, and unusual noises.
Investigate disturbances and respond to alarms.
Monitor and authorize the entry and departure of employees, visitors, and other individuals to safeguard against theft and maintain security.
Document daily activities, irregularities, and incidents such as equipment damage, property theft, and unauthorized access.
Notify police or fire departments during emergencies, such as fires or unauthorized entries.
Circulating among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
Warn individuals of infractions or violations and handle rule enforcement, including apprehending or evicting violators when necessary.
Escort or transport individuals to specified locations as needed.
Inspect and adjust security systems and equipment to ensure proper operation and detect tampering.
Help control the traffic for students, visitors, and employees if necessary.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong technical knowledge in one or multiple areas such: as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical systems, and construction.
Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently and apply LOTO.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical and maintenance issues.
Excellent observational skills and attention to detail for security monitoring.
Ability to multitask and switch between security and facility-related responsibilities as needed.
Strong physical capability to handle lifting, moving equipment, and performing physically demanding tasks.
Effective communication skills to interact with staff, visitors, and emergency personnel.
Commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
Strong physical capability to meet job demands.
Ability to assist welders, carpenters, painters, or other tradespeople as needed.
Commitment to safety standards and rules.
Ability to handle and transport materials and equipment, such as cement and drills.
Technical troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
High school diploma or equivalent certifications preferred.
Experience in construction, facilities maintenance, or electrical.
Familiarity with HVAC systems, electrical wiring, plumbing, drywall repair, and general building maintenance.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. And perform physically demanding tasks.
Bilingual preferred (English and Spanish).
Previous experience in the industrial or construction sector is a plus.
Valid drivers license and ability to travel between locations as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Comfortable working at elevated heights and climbing tall ladders.
Frequent physical activities, including reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Required vision abilities to perform essential job functions include the ability to see clearly at close and distant ranges, distinguish colors accurately, maintain peripheral vision, perceive depth, and adjust focus as needed.
Occasional travel between locations may be required.
