Job Summary
The overall objective and purpose of the Safety and Security Director is to manage the security department staff as well as guard industrial or commercial property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties.
Core Responsibilities
Primary areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Establishing operational procedures for activities such as fire prevention and firefighting, traffic control, guarding and patrolling physical property, orienting and monitoring personnel involved with classified information, and investigating accidents and criminal acts.
Collaborating with management to formulate policies, determine program needs, and coordinate with plant activities.
Directing activities of workers engaged in building maintenance and janitorial services.
Coordinating with local law enforcement and firefighting agencies.
Patrolling buildings and grounds to report irregularities such as fire hazards and security breaches.
Ensuring doors, windows, and gates are secure.
Warning violators and apprehending or expelling persons engaged in suspicious or criminal acts.
Inspecting equipment and machinery for tampering.
Monitoring departing personnel to prevent theft.
Responding to emergencies by sounding alarms or calling authorities.
Permitting authorized access to property.
Recording inspections, damages, and incidents.
Performing janitorial duties.
Setting thermostatic controls and regulating traffic flow at entrances.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates should have experience achieving results in similar roles, with skills including strategic planning, team motivation, high-level performance, accountability, and excellent communication. Ability to interpret safety and operational documents, work under stress, and uphold service standards is essential.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent experience – required
2+ years of relevant experience – required
Experience in luxury markets – required
Trade certifications – preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities
Leading security supervisors and managers within the established culture and policies.
Work Environment
Shared spaces with constant noise; no private office.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Variable work hours exceeding 40 hours per week based on business needs.
Physical Demands
Regularly moving up to 10 lbs, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs, and traveling on foot or by transportation for extended periods. Accommodations available for disabilities.
