The City of Everett is accepting applications on an open/competitive basis for the Civil Service examination process forSecurity Officer. This position may work either at theTransit Center or the City of Everett Library.

The employee in this class provides security and patrol functions to enforce rules, regulations, codes of conduct, and City ordinances. The employee in this class, under general supervision, patrols the regional Multi-modal Center and/or transportation centers to provide security and safety for the grounds and general public. A high priority of this position is responding to customer service requests and needs and providing quality service.

Knowledge of the principles and methods of building and grounds security is required. The employee is responsible for rendering first aid to the general public, multi-modal center tenants and employees and for determining if emergency treatment is necessary. Specific guidelines including laws, regulations, City policies, and procedures exist; however, the employee must exercise judgment in determining the appropriate guideline to apply. The work is performed independently with general direction from a supervisor. Contacts include Everett Transit staff, building occupants, law enforcement officials, and the general public for the purpose of providing security, regulation enforcement, assistance and exchange of information.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

Patrol and monitor surveillance cameras in designated areas to enforce laws and regulations and codes of conduct, prevent and check for property damage, and identify potential safety hazards.

Respond to security or emergency situations and contact appropriate staff, law enforcement or other emergency personnel. Secure facilities at end of shift.
