In this role, you will :

Proactively scan, monitor, and assess the evolving political, social and security context in all locations (in Canada and international) of relevance to CRC, identify areas of concern, gaps or opportunities for strengthen CRC security program.

Lead and support the capacity building of security risk management competencies of CRC personnel and managers.

Identify and lead improvements, application of guidelines and minimum-security standards, including review and updating of security related documents and templates.

Conduct planned and/or emergency site visits, undertake security risk assessments and provide safety / security advice to teams in line with standards.

Identify security risks, preventive and mitigation measures to operations leadership.

Provide subject matter advice and recommendations to leadership to support decision-making related to security to issues/topics.

Support the implementation of informed consent process, including thorough briefings, updates, and management of relevant documentation.

Review and provide SME recommendations for CRC personnel travel approval, ensuring the CRC Minimum Security Requirements are maintained.

Provide travel briefing and debriefing support, including for executive management.

Promote inclusive security management culture by supporting communication and dialogue and encouraging risk management-based decision making.

Provide on call support as subject matter expert for Security.

Provide rapid alert to senior management regarding security context of CRC program.

Identify emerging concerns and makes recommendations according; including corrective actions to mitigate risk which may include relocation of staff, shifting to remote management or program closure.

Contribute/lead problem solving and related to security crisis situations, working closely with Security Director, and other relevant stakeholders to develop solutions that meet program needs.

Lead and manage security incidents through to closure; participating in critical incident management team as requested.

In consultation with Security Director lead the development security training modules, materials, and security guidance tip sheets.

What we are looking for :

Different types of backgrounds and experience including University degree in arts, social science, law, risk management, business administration or a combination of education and experience which could include investigative work, business analysists, compliance review, documentation, etc. that would be considered equivalent.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (operational risk management, program and project management, process development or security risk experience), preferably in non-for profit or humanitarian organization contexts.

Up-to-date knowledge of current thinking, trends, and approaches to security management in the humanitarian sector.
