POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform guard and patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, fire, flood, or
similar disaster in compliance with government and management directives.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency. 1-3 years experience in law enforcement, security and/or public safety
required.
JOB DUTIES:
Ensure physical safety of buildings and property by checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment, maintaining a log of findings and corrective action taken.
Perform administrative functions such as entering and maintaining daily logs, incident reports, and conducting investigations as directed.
Assure accountability protocol of student check-in and out, to and from center grounds.
Perform parking and traffic control duties.
Check identification of personnel and students seeking entrance to or exit from grounds and permit or deny entrance or exit according to established policies and procedures.
Respond to fire alarms, take necessary steps to report fires, assist in suppressing fires and reset fire alarm equipment.
Set up and check operation of intrusion alarm systems in buildings as required.
Assist staff and law enforcement personnel in controlling disturbances.
Conduct preliminary investigation of crimes and provide timely documentation.
Provide proactive conflict resolution with students and refer students to counselling and other actions as necessary.
Assist Senior Safety/Security Advisors and Safety/Security Manager in coordinating and instituting programs that foster student retention.
Assist center staff in conducting required health and safety inspections.
Assist the Safety/Security Manager in developing new and revised policies and procedures affecting Safety and Security.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with overall center objectives relating to the Safety and Security program.
Ensure fire extinguishers are available in required locations and always in working condition.
Provide records and reports of departmental activities upon request by management, insurance underwriters, DOL, and other government agencies.
Coordinate with other center staff concerning safety matters and conduct safety related investigations.
Communicate closely with Facilities Maintenance Manager and Food Services Manager on issues of safety.
Operate in accordance with requirements set in the contract, PRH, guides, Standard Operating Procedures, and corporate policies.
Complete all required training according to Job Corps and Company training schedule.
Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.
Contribute to cultivation of positive Center culture which is free of harassment, discrimination, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
