Surveillance Operations Supervisor Jobs in Highland, CA at San Manuel Band of Mission Indians

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) is a self-governing nation and as such has established tribally-managed governmental units to enhance and support services on the San Manuel reservation. The San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission (SMTGC) is the governmental unit that was created by tribal ordinance as the primary regulator of gaming within the SMBMI’s jurisdiction, including the San Manuel Casino (Casino). The SMTGC, which includes the Surveillance Department, is responsible for maintaining legal and regulatory compliance, ensuring a high level of integrity, and safeguarding tribal and Casino assets.
Under the direction of Surveillance Operations Management, the Surveillance Operations Supervisor is responsible for administration of the Operations Division; overseeing daily activities, monitoring property-wide activities and surrounding areas to regulate and mitigate suspicious activity to include, but not limited to, criminal activity, violation of applicable laws, regulations and enterprise policy. The Surveillance Operations Supervisor is responsible for assisting and providing coverage for the Surveillance Operations Manager and must be an effective leader, mentor and responsible individual to manage and develop approximately 6-8 team members.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Directs workflow of Operations staff; reviews reports and surveillance video from subordinates and provides reports to Surveillance Operations Manager.

2. Ensures highest level of work performance and makes certain internal concerns are effectively and promptly resolved.

3. Works closely and maintains excellent communication with Casino operations and management to gather pertinent information and investigate criminal activity, injuries or illness claims/reports and safety risks.

4. Analyzes recorded and live surveillance video of property-wide activities to detect any suspicious activity, violations of gaming activity including cheating at play, or suspicious financial transactions, which may pose a risk to employees, vendors, guests, Tribal residents or Casino operations.

5. Maintains working knowledge of Tribal Gaming Commission internal controls, Casino policies and procedures, and all federal, state, and tribal regulations pertaining to the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and its Casino operations.

6. Maintains working knowledge of all games offered by Casino. Researches surveillance and investigation technology and recommends enhancements to ensure efficient and cost-effective surveillance operations.

7. Responsible for administration of training to Lead Surveillance and Surveillance Agents through in-house and remedial training. Shares knowledge, trends, and best practices to continuously develop and enhance individual and team capabilities.

8. Develops and implements key strategies, best practices, and tactics to ensure thorough monitoring and observation of entire property.

9. Provides testimony as an expert witness or subject matter expert in Gaming Commission Hearings, Tribal Court or Court of Law. Ensures and maintains chain of custody for video evidence.

10. Performs other duties as assigned to support efficient operation of Department.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the enterprise’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field required.
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
Minimum two (2) years surveillance experience or related field required.
Minimum three (3) years casino surveillance experience or related field required.
Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
Must possess intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), commercial database systems, and internet research skills.
Previous casino surveillance experience is highly preferred.
Must possess excellent report writing skills and verbal communication skills.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

Must obtain and maintain a Class “A” Gaming License issued by the SMTGC.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record as determined by the enterprise’s insurance carrier.
Certified Surveillance Professionals (CSP) certification preferred.
