As a Security Officer (unarmed), you’ll play an essential role in this mission by providing a safe, secure environment for caregivers, patients and visitors as well as supporting and enforcing policies and procedures for physical protection of property, building(s) and assets of facilities.

The hours for this role are 10:00pm to 6:30am!

Job Responsibilities:

Protects patients, visitors and employees by providing escorts, patrolling grounds, and eliminating safety hazards.
Deters vandalism, theft and property abuse through routine patrols of all hospital property to include inside areas as well as all parking lots and decks.
Conducts searches of belongings as required.
Proficient use of magnetometer and wanding equipment.
Enforces Cleveland Clinic facility policies e.g. parking regulations, visitation policies, drug enforcement, smoking policy.
Monitors facility activity on closed circuit television to be alerted to any escalating situations that may require security involvement.
Intervenes in patient, visitor and/or staff confrontations as appropriate.
Completes appropriate documentation of various incidents.
Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures, alarm response, evacuation and internal and external disaster plans.
Follows health system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements to include de-escalation training provided by department within the first 6 months of hire and as required thereafter.
Work shifts and schedules may vary and are dependent on meeting the needs of the Institute/Division/Hospital
Other duties as assigned.

Education:

High School diploma or GED is required

Certifications:

Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license (VDL) and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organizations’ vehicles.
OPOTC (Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission) approved Private Security Academy preferred.

Competencies (Complexity of Work):

Strong interpersonal skills.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate in a courteous and direct manner.

Work Experience:

Minimum of one year previous experience in the field of criminal justice; private, public or military security (or similar in a related field) is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Requires extensive walking, standing, sitting, talking, listening, and documenting when directing or investigating concerns/incidents.
Typical physical demands require full body motion, physical strength, and stamina to intervene during response to crisis interventions and medical emergencies.
